Beginner's Bike Rides

Beginner's Bike Rides There is going to be another couple of "Bike Ride for Beginners" at the Taupo Events Centre on Wednesday 17 and 31 March from 5pm, leaving at 5.30pm. It is a follow up from the BikeWise Family ride. It will be real easy, with the focus on building people's skills. We will probably follow the same route along the Rotary Ride to Owen Delany park. Should only be an hour or so. Anyone who wants to join in, please come on down. Sorry, no free sausage this time! After that it will depend on interest. Our spotters have been busy during BikeWise Month and have rewarded 21 bikers. Choosen a complete random over the last 4 weeks, everyone received a gift pack with vouchers form our local Bike Shops and other goodies.

NZ Road Codes

NZTA has released the official New Zealand code for cyclists and is available for Download on their website.

Other Publications include the Road Code for cars, motorbikes and trucks. So check it out, if in doubt about who's right or wrong.

LAW CHANGES THAT AFFECT CYCLISTS The Land Transport (Road User) Amendment Rule [2009] will take affect on the 1 November 2009. This includes banning the use of mobiles while driving and a number of law amendments that will affect road cyclists safety. The following Cycle amendments will also apply:

Tamati's Tiki Tour visits Taupo

On the quest to search out to find the top "One Less Car on the Road' Town, the TVNZ crew had a freezing start of the day here in Taupo.

Thank you to everyone who turned up and showed the rest of NZ how Taupo locals are doing their bit for the environment and keeping cars off the road.
