Hi.
We are going to built the SH1 underpass (the track to
Somewhere) a lot will be hand built We are going to
get it marked out ASAP if any body wants to give a hand on this please
email us as it going to be a lot of work. It is one of those jobs that
you can go and work on for a hour or two at any time by yourself but we
just want to make sure people know what to do and were we are taking
the track.
Working bee on Saturday 11th June 09:00 at Huka falls to get the pumice in on the Western bypass.
Bring a wheel barrow and if you don't own one still come with a shovel and rake.
This job will not take long to do The pumice is going to be dropped off right beside the track.
Rotary Ride improvements:
We have got some
funding to built a new downhill track in the first part of the RR this is to
split the uphill and down hill traffic Since the first head by the gun club
corner I have been worried about this part of the track and we have seen a
great gully to come down (will be all digger work )
Shep, Dave Brett
and Pete .M have been chipping away at the
Huka lodge corner and just a few more days
will see that cleaned up Its working out OK but have some bloody big pine roots
to cut out
DoC has also approved carrying on the single
track north of the ladder bridge to cut out the steep hill with the matting,
this will make the track that much better ( we can chip away at this in the
future) see Pete. M to help out on this it will
be just done on a odd spare hour basis. We want to also make a uphill only track
at the pumice cutting above ladder bridge on the southern side
We are going to change the entry/exit on the Rotary
track so he leads down to the Hot water bridge in a much nicer way out of Spa
Park
Having a look at change at the gorse bush on the RR to run down the gully (all digger
) We will try and make the uphill a bit better as
well It works OK at the moment but think it will be much more interesting going
down the gully.
Cheers
Pete
