Newsletter Number 2

Summer fast approaching, so it is time to dust off that bike and explore our beautiful town.

The off road cycle link to the Huka Falls and the Wairakei Tourist Park is SOON to be a reality - check it out on: http://www.biketaupo.org.nz

Great progress on the Rotary Ride has been made to date but BikeTaupo now needs your support. We need your help for a couple of sections where the digger can't get to. So we are having a Working Bee for all keen bikers, equipped with Shovels & Spades, on Saturday, 20-September from 9am to 3pm.

Come for one hour or all six. Meet at the DOC Field Centre or ride the track from Spa Park to you will see us !! Click here for details. or email Pete if you would like to help.

The BikeTaupo AGM is planned for end of October. We will send out more detailed information closer to the date.
When:
Wednesday, 29 October 2003 Start: 07:30pm
Where: Taupo Events Centre - Function room 2

Our membership is fast approaching the 300 mark! If you know of any keen cyclists, who are not yet registered, please forward them this newsletter and tell them to REGISTER online. It is a free registration and the more members we have, the more credibility we have for projects like the Rotary Ride or exciting new ideas, like:

  1. A Bike link from Accacia Bay to Kinloch
  2. Shared Cycle paths in the freshly cleared gullies
  3. Widening of Pohipi Road
  4. etc.

Remember we are here to advocate Cycling for everyone here in Taupo and if you have any ideas, suggestions or any other bike related issues, feel free to use our FORUMS on the website.

If you wish to participate in a survey about cyclists night safety, please email Chris Quill and request the email survey.
The six questions should take you less than 10 minutes.

Thanks for your support.
