The new MTB race series called the Mid North Island Championships starts with Round 1 in Wairakei Forest on Sunday 30th October 2005.

Round 1 is a single lap cross country event, of about 30 km length.  The course for this event will be very similar to that used in the recent and very popular Craters Classic.  Mostly single track, with a great all-weather pumice surface, on tracks graded 2, 3 and 4.

Entry fee is a low $25, and you get a well-run event, heaps of MTB riding fun on purpose built forest tracks, BBQ and drink, and lots of great spot prizes thanks to our major sponsor The Corner Shop of Taupo, your Avanti Plus cycle specialist.  Place getters in each class will receive very stylish trophies, thanks to our other big sponsor, Aliways of Taupo your supplier of aluminium windows and doors.

Registration opens at 9.00 am, and racing begins at 10.00 am.  Enter on-the-day.

Round 2 is in Tokoroa on 13 November (a multi-lap race, 80% singletrack).

Round 3 is in Rotorua on 11 December (a multi-lap race in Whakarewarewa Forest).

Round 4, the Final, is in Napier on 18 December (a 2-lap race in Eskdale forest).

Points at each round to 6th place (12, 9, 8, 6, 5, 4).  Accumulate points from your best 3 rounds including the Napier Final to be in for the series trophies.
