Mid-North Island Championships 2006

Round 1, Taupo

Round 1 takes place in Wairakei Forest on Sunday 15th October 2006.

This round will be a single lap cross country MTB event of about 35 km length.  The course will be similar to that used in the popular Craters Classic, 96% single track, with great all-weather pumice surface, on tracks graded 2, 3 and 4.

For those who want to participate on the day, but are not contesting the series, and just want some good fun, we have the 20 km Fun Ride option for you.  The 20 km course uses some of the same great tracks, but grades 2 and 3 only.

The entry fee for this round is a low $25, and you get a well run event, heaps of MTB riding fun on purpose built all-weather forest tracks, and lots of great spot prizes thanks to our major sponsor the Avanti Plus Corner Shop of Taupo.

(Discounted entry fee of $20 for Taupo MTB Club members)

The Wairakei Forest venue will be sign-posted off SH1, between Taupo and Wairakei, near Helistar.

Registration opens at 9.00 am, and racing begins at 10.00 am.  Enter on-the-day or download the entry form and post it in with your cheque by 9th October.  (Mail to "MNIC-Round 1, 43 Hyde Ave, Taupo 3330")

Entry categories for MNIC are as follows:

Junior Male (14-15), Junior Male (16-18), Junior Female (14-18), Open Male, Open Female, Veteran Male (30-39), Veteran Male (40+), Veteran Female (30+).

The Fun Ride is one entry category, all in.

The "Steaming Bean" coffee cart will be on site, for all your snack and drink requirements (but they don't do EFTPOS).

MNIC Series Information

Competitors can choose to enter one or more events, but to be eligible for series points and trophies you must enter at least 3 rounds including a start in the Napier final.  The scoring system is 12 points for 1st place, 9 points for 2nd, 8 points for 3rd, 6 points for 4th, 5 points for 5th, and 4 points for 6th.  Your total series score is your best 3 rounds, but should there be a tie, all 4 rounds will count.  The rounds after Taupo are as follows:

Round 2, Tokoroa, 5 November 2006

Round 3, Rotorua, 3 December 2006

Round 4 (Final), Napier, 17 December 2006
