It was overcast with a cool breeze, and dry, giving ideal riding conditions.  After rain during the week, the Wairakei Forest tracks were in a fun state.  Much of it hard and fast, but just enough "soft bits" to test our MTB skills.

Some good times were posted, and everyone seemed to enjoy the mix of tracks, old and new.  Those doing the 30 km and 39 km courses got to try the new Retro and Luge Tracks, and the climbing was a good test of legs and skill.

Thanks to main Sponsor Top Gear Cycles, and Canterbury Clothing (one of their suppliers), there were some excellent spot prizes.

Some riders decided to change to a shorter course option, once the event was underway and they found the "testing nature" of the trails.  We have done our very best to correct for all of those.  The results are set out below.

There were 126 people riding in the event.  Of these riders, 56 (ie almost half) chose to do the 39 km event.  And it was a very worthy 39 km, with some climbing to be done.

The 2 hour and 18 seconds time posted by Mike Northcott, fastest person on the course, was a goodie!
