Track Crew News - April 2009

Wairakei Update

Lots going on with new tracks opening, and old tracks passing into history. Thanks to all for staying away from the logging area. We have only one report of some tourists riding into the block to watch the trees falling down - They got told where to go.

Track changes coming up are that we are going to loose the Drone up to the old gate. This is going to be fenced off and go into the new golf course bird sanctuary. Its a pain to loose this area but we are fully in support of the sanctuary as the bird life will make the forest even better to ride around in.

We are going to build a new Outback entry track this will include two new crossings on the Laneway road. As part of the deal in loosing the area we are getting some money to help with the new track and also getting a big increase in the concession area to the north of the Outback block so watch this space.
The Outback single track is coming along  slowly but the end is in sight.

W2K

The Headland track seems to be winner and is getting lots of traffic. For those not in the know its 27 Kms from Whakaipo bay around the Headland and back to the bay. And its 22 Kms from Kinloch

All the track gear is on its way out we are gong to fix up the short cutting above Kinloch and then digger will be attacking a few overdue jobs.

HELP!

If you are not riding in The Moon Ride (8th May) and can give us a hand marshaling This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Need a day and night shift, you get your meals and some money for petrol plus you can ride as much as you like on different tracks. The money all goes into maintenance of our tracks so it like a working bee without the blackberries.
