Top Gear Cycles Craters Classic, Wairakei Forest

Sunday 19 July 2009

9.00 am Registration for a 10.00 am start.

Enter the 18 km Fun Course or the 36 km Classic Course.

Get into it!  These are worthy courses, mainly singletrack on a great all-weather pumic surface.

There will be certificates for all placegetters, and thanks to event sponsor Top Gear Cycles, there will be some great spot prizes.

Are you up for it?

Courses will be at least 90% singletrack, with a little 4WD.  Both course options are old-style big loop format.  The Fun Course will be about 18 km in length, and the Classic Course about 36 km, but the actual distances may vary a little depending on forest operational requirements at the time. (Update Info - final course lengths are Fun 19 km, and Classic 37 km)

Entry is $25 href="embers). Classes are Junior Men / Women (U19), Senior Men / Women (U36) and Vet Men / Women (36+).

Enter On-The-Day, or pre-enter by posting the entry form with your cheque to: "Craters Classic, PO Box 107, Taupo 3351" by 13 July. Please make your cheque out to Taupo Mountain Bike Club.

The venue will be sign posted from SH1 between Taupo and Wairakei. Turn in to Craters of the Moon opposite Helistar.  The event base is the MTB car park on Powerline Road.

The Steaming Bean coffee cart will be on site for this event.  They have a range of drinks and muffins and such, and great coffee of course.  Eftpos doesn't work too well in the forest, so make sure you bring some cash for coffee!
