2010 Huka Cycles MTB Summer Series.
Results for the second race of the series are now up. It was a ripper.
Congratulations to the 70 mud-loving hearty souls that turned out for a rain soaked race 2 of the Huka Cycles MTB "summer" series.
For those of you who for what ever reason were unable to make it to the start line (softies) here is a quick run down of what you missed.
Hmmm... nobody really warming up for Race 2? Instead 70 riders & their bikes attempted to cram under the shelter in vain attempts to keep dry before race briefing.
There was one noticeable last minute scratching just prior to the 2-lapers heading off. I'm sure he burnt more calories getting his bike out of his wagon, putting his number plate on, taking his number plate off and putting his bike back in his wagon than he did any riding tonight. We won't mention any names hey Spud, but good on you for at least showing up mate. Good intentions are always noticed.
A brilliantly organised handicapped system saw riders reluctantly starting off at their allocated slots. There was one hell of a muddy track ahead. But it was okay because mother nature had strategically placed a waist high deep watering hole under the bridge at the bottom of slalom... perfect for cleaning down bikes! For those of you who had a quick dab or walked through the puddle, well done. For those of you who exited your trusty steed over the handle bars, sterling job for getting back on. And for that one rider who totally misjudged the bridge height clearance-water hole factor and whacked his helmet on the way through yet finished his ride in a respectable time... LEGEND!!!
In total 67 very dirty finishers crossing the line each with smiles on their dials and a story to tell. Who said getting wet & muddy wasn't fun?
