The Clover Points Race is a new event for the Taupo Mountain Bike Club calendar in 2010. It will take place in Wairakei Forest on Sunday 23 May, and it will utilise many familiar tracks, with a twist.

The "Clover" will be a 4 hour multi-lap event, raced over 4 separate trail circuits (hence the name). Each lap will start and finish at the Craters of the Moon MTB car park on Powerline Road. This is both event HQ and the transition area.

Points will be given for each lap completed. However, each lap will be allocated a different point value based on its distance and total elevation. Riders are free to choose and ride whichever circuits they wish as many times as they like. The only catch is - each circuit must be completed at least twice throughout the 4 hours (or at least once over 2 hours for the under 12's Junior category).

The eventual winners in each category are those with the most points gained within the 4 hour time limit. Simple, really!

Registration will be held at the MTB car park from 8.45 am to 9.30 am. A compulsory briefing will take place at 9.40 am. Then racing comences at 10.00 am and ends at 2.00 pm.

Categories and entry fees are as follows: Solo $25 (or $20 for members); 2-Team $25 (or $20 if at least one is a member), 4-Team $45 (or $40 if at least one person is a member), College 4-Team $45 (or $40 if at least one person is a member) and Under 12's Junior Team $20 (or $10 if at least one person is a member).
