WOW !! FULL RESULTS ARE UP NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Inaugural king and queen of the crank has been. And from all who attended found it a Huge success ... Well done to Carwyn May for finally riding down Duncan Milne and Helping to confirm that for 2010 the Mountain Bikers ruled supreme.. The weather gods could have been a little nicer and given us some more sun shine and a LOT less rain but hey thats what its all about ( riding in mud makes for better skills after all ). I personally have never ridden in such conditions in Taupo but truly enjoyed the challenge. For those that didnt make it you missed out on a truly well organised and FUN event, Well done to the Taupo Cycle club and the Taupo Mountain Bike club who put in many hours of hard work to run this event and Im sure it will only grow from here. Well done to all who braved the weather and threw caution to the wind ! your all TRUE athletes for not letting a little thing like rain and cold stop you from getting out there and doing it ....so get out there and support your local clubs.please read on to find details of the top placings in categories Untill next year !!

The who’s who of the Taupo cycling fraternity turned out to ride or support the inaugural King and Queen of the Crank on Sunday. 32 individuals and 11 teams tackled the 26 km road and 23km mountain bike course in testing conditions.
The road cycle started in dry sunny conditions but turned to rain and hail on the second lap. Once onto the mountain bike course, riders had heavy rain showers to add to the very slick and slippery conditions on the gruelling and hilly course.
Taupo Mountain Bike Club edged out Taupo Cycling Club to win the club title.
Carwyn May was the well deserved King of the Crank and Jane Williams took out the Queen of the Crank, both riding for Taupo Mountain Bike Club.
Prize giving and a post event get together was held in warmth and comfort at “The Shed” later on Sunday.
