The very popular Taupo MTB Club SUMMER SERIES starts this Thursday 2nd December. This years handicapped Summer Series has been extended to a 12 week race series with 3 weeks of racing before Christmas (ending 16th December). Racing will commence again on Thursday 13th January 2011, with the final race on 10th March. There will be the usual choice of 1 or 2 laps. The 2 lap race will be a mass start commencing at 6:00pm sharp (please note that if you intend to race 2 laps there will be a cut off at 40 minutes for your first lap). This years 1 lap handicap system will be simplified into 5 groups, each leaving at 5 min intervals (5 min, 10 min, 15 min, 20 min, 25 min). The first race will be used to ascertain your correct handicap start position.
For those of you familiar with the tracks the lap will proceed as follows: Car park > Tourist Trap > Inwards goods> Tourist Trap > Piker > Tourist Trap > Powerline Rd > Craters Rd > Lake Hire Link > Tank Stand > Coaster > Lake Hire Link > Squirt > Q Line Rd > Powerline Rd > Tourist Trap > Car park. Thats 8 km for 1 lap. All MTB riders who can handle the distance are welcome. Younger riders unsure of the tracks should be accompanied by a competent adult. Just follow the freshly cut out WHITE ARROWS! Registration will be from 5:15pm. The cost to enter is $5 per person each evening (free to Taupo MTB Club members). Register on the night. Ride as many or as few as you like - however you will get addicted! Race H.Q. at the car park in Wairakei Forest (opposite Hub Cafe).
