Please note that for our final race there will be no handicap starts. Yep that means one hell of a mass start! We'd like to see that the 60 odd riders who have been regularly doing the 2 Lap rides rise to the challenge of the Grinder. We ask that the start line grid resemble something like 2 LAP riders followed by the 25 min handicap group followed by the 20 min handicap group etc down to the 5 min handicap group followed by the wonderful group of regular young kids who have been riding as the 0 min 1 lap group. Hey we might even try a controlled rolling start! We have organised for the white gate on Craters Rd to be left open until 6:30pm so no tight squeeze needed.
The Club will be putting on a BBQ (feel free to BYO drink) and PRIZE GIVING at the car park straight after the race. So please hang around after your ride and literally chew the fat! The weather looks like it is going to hold up for us.
The MTB Club would like to extend a warm thanks to Glenn & Kylie Clarke of HUKA CYCLES and Hendon Gillies of PACK & PEDAL for their continued support and sponsorship of the Summer Series Event. I trust as MTB enthusiasts we the riders/racers of the summer series support the bike shops that support our events.
A big shout out this year to Mark Durrant of 1st Choice Engravers & Badges. Turns out Mark has really enjoyed participating in the Summer Series sooo much so that he has decided to donate 3 trophies and 13 medals that will be handed out at prize giving.
On a personal note I would like to thank the MTB committee members for their time, energy and commitment into making this event hum. In particular a big thumbs up to Lynette Braithwaite & Jane Saunders for being our regular registration girls. You girls are just awesome.
So heres to some good old fashion racing come Thursday night. And remember to follow the white & red arrows.
