The Craters Classic is back again for 2011, Race over 3 separate distances: 5km kids fun course graded for kids (U13) , 20km cruise for a good time and a shorter ride, or the 40km for the Hardy. All courses are mostly singletrack in the excellent pumice-based Craters of the Moon trails, meaning that whatever the weather, mud shouldn't be an issue! Great Spot Prizes on offer thanks to event sponsor's: Topgear Cycles, Debretts, Replete, Scenic Cellars and Plateau.

Entry is $30 reduced to $20 for Taupo MTB Club Members). U13's $2

Classes: (Age taken on Event Day)

• Junior Men / Women (13-19)
• Open Men/Women (19-35)
• Masters Men/Women(36-45)
• Veteran Men/Women(46+)

Entry on the Day

The venue will be sign-posted from SH1 between Taupo and Wairakei. Turn in to Craters of The Moon opposite Helistar. The event base is the MTB car park on Powerline Rd.

Course Details

5.5km Kids Course

20km Cruise Course

Start on Q Line Road Head up to intersection with Powerline road Turn Left onto powerline road and continue up to the start of fast eddie. Turn left into fast Eddie then left again into S.H Fun Onto Bumblebee- across into the last part of ferret and tourist trap. Back up Powerline road through the gate and left onto craters of the moon road. Right into Lake Hire Link. Up Tankstand, Grinder. Down Debs. Back up Debs then down Mr and Mrs. Continue onto the Full Young Pines loop. At Cornershop Connection, go up Incline. Down Coaster, through lake hire link, round the carpark , into Tourist trap. Back on Piker. across and up onto the bridge to finish.
