Get into it!
The Taupo Mountain Bike Club are proud to be hosting Round 1 of the 7th annual Mid North Island Cup. It will be held at Craters MTB Park in Wairakei Forest on Sunday 6th November 2011.
Each round is run independently by the local host club in the popular mid-north island mountain bike destinations of Tokoroa, Rotorua, Taupo & Napier with each event consisting of multi-lap races.
The Taupo round will be a multi-lap race that will take racers all the way to the highest point of the forest via Tank Stand and the Ground Effect Grinder. Smile because Grinder always feeds a downhill and for this race it will be the Buzzard - the oldest down hill single track in the forest with narrow board walks and natural drops that demand respect. Blink and it will eat you up and spit you out. Missing Link is thrown in at this point to further test your technical abilities. Outback and Slalom will stretch your endurance legs out before the relentless Incline reminds your lungs that you're on the last climb. Remember to thank us for putting everyones favorite Coaster in the mix to finish off the lap. Lap Length 8km approx.
These trails are graded up to Advanced G4 and require a moderate level of riding expertise. Round 1 of the M-NIC will not be for the faint hearted!
Entries on the day.
Registration will be at the MTB car park from 9:00am. A low entry fee of $25.00 for non-members ($20.00 for current Taupo MTB Club members). Race starts 10:00am.
