Great Lake Trail (GLT): to Chinaman’s Creek and beyond!

Great Lake Trail (GLT)— to Chinaman’s Creek and beyond!

This is Bike Taupo’s new showpiece. It is an easy trail to kick off the series. The ride caters

for all abilities with 3 options:

1. Whangamata Road: GLT > Head to Chinaman’s Creek & return - 21km. Start 10:00am (easy 2hrs).

2. Whangamata Road: GLT > Head to Chinaman’s Creek > Kawakawa Bay > Kinloch - 18km. Start 10:00 am (easy – intermediate 2 hrs).

3. Whangamata Road: GLT > Head to Chinaman’s Creek > Kawakawa Bay > Kinloch > Whakaipo Bay 33km or 43km (headland track included). Start 8.30am (Intermediate 3 -4hrs).

For your convenience the club will arrange a shuttle service to be available to transport you and your bike from Kinloch to the start of The Great Lake Trail on Whangamata Rd and from Whakaipo bay back to Kinloch. The charge is $10 per person per way. Or you can make your own transport arrangements.

The club will also have cheap beverages and bangers on the BBQ at the Kinloch beach front

from 11.00am.

Shuttle for the 33/43km riders leaves at 8:15am.

Shuttle for the 18km and 20km option leaves from 9:00am onwards.
